A Project Built for Community Support
The Create Dunwoody Pet Tribute Project is a community-funded public art initiative that honors beloved pets through permanent sculptures featuring pet names from local families and supporters.
The sculpture celebrates the special bond between people and their pets while adding a meaningful and welcoming piece of public art to Dunwoody. Community members will have the opportunity to make a tribute gift in honor or memory of a beloved pet, with their pet’s name included on a plaque, paw, or other artistic element incorporated into the memorial.

Individual/Family Pet Tribute
Founder Sponsor - Individual/Family $250
Individuals and families may honor a beloved pet by having the pet’s name included on a plaque, paw, or other tribute element connected to the sculpture. Inscription up to 20 (tbd) characters. (Inscriptions may be reviewed for length, readability, and appropriateness.)
For a limited time, individual pet tribute spaces are available at the Founder Pet Tribute Sponsor rate of $250. This early commitment helps launch the project, secure the first sculpture, and demonstrate community support before fabrication begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Create Dunwoody Pet Tribute Project?
The Create Dunwoody Pet Tribute Project is a community public art initiative that honors beloved pets through permanent sculptures and tribute elements. Community members may make a donation to have a pet’s name included on a plaque, paw, or other artistic feature connected to the sculpture.
Where will the sculpture be located?
The final location has not yet been confirmed. Create Dunwoody is exploring highly visible, accessible locations in Dunwoody, including village green spaces, private property with owner approval, or other approved public-facing commercial areas.
What information can be included on the tribute?
To keep the memorial tasteful and readable, inscriptions will be limited. The standard tribute will include the pet’s name, up to approximately 20 characters. Create Dunwoody may review names for length, readability, and appropriateness.
Can I include more than one pet?
Yes, each $250 tribute includes a maximum number of characters, so if more than one name fits, more than one pet can be included. Families may also purchase more than one tribute space.
Can I honor a living pet, or does this have to be a memorial?
Both are welcome. This project is intended to honor pets who are currently part of your family as well as pets remembered with love.
What types of pets can be included?
All beloved pets are welcome. While the sculpture may feature a dog and cat design, the tribute names may honor any pet that has been meaningful to you or your family.
Will I get to choose the exact location of my pet’s name?
Specific placement cannot be guaranteed. Create Dunwoody will work with the artist, fabricator, and installer to arrange names in a way that is attractive, balanced, and readable.
Will there be a limit to the number of pet names?
Yes. Space will be limited for each sculpture. Names will generally be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the available tribute spaces are filled.
What happens if the project does not move forward?
If the project is unable to move forward, Create Dunwoody will contact donors regarding next steps. Depending on the timing and project expenses already incurred, options may include applying the gift to a future public art project, reserving a tribute for a future sculpture, or another appropriate resolution.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Create Dunwoody is a nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible as allowed by law. Donors should consult their tax advisor for guidance specific to their situation.
Can I purchase a tribute as a gift?
Yes. A pet tribute can be a thoughtful gift for a friend, family member, neighbor, or someone grieving the loss of a beloved pet.
Who is creating the sculpture?
Create Dunwoody is exploring artist and fabrication options for the project. The final artist, design, materials, and installation plan will be confirmed before production begins.
What will the sculpture look like?
The concept includes a permanent public artwork celebrating pets, potentially featuring dog and cat imagery with tribute names incorporated into the base, surrounding plaques, paw elements, or landscape design. Final design details may change based on artist input, site conditions, budget, and approvals.
How will the funds be used?
Funds will help cover project costs such as artist design, fabrication, materials, tribute plaques, site preparation, installation, signage, landscaping, and maintenance.
Will there be an unveiling or dedication event?
Yes, Create Dunwoody hopes to host a dedication or unveiling event once the sculpture is installed. Donors, sponsors, community members, and pet lovers would be invited to celebrate the project.
How long will the tribute remain in place?
The goal is for the sculpture and tribute names to be a permanent or long-term public art feature. As with all outdoor public art, the final duration may depend on property agreements, maintenance needs, and site conditions.
Who will maintain the sculpture?
Maintenance planning will be part of the final project budget and agreement. Create Dunwoody will work with the property owner, artist, fabricator, and appropriate partners to determine care and maintenance responsibilities.
Can I submit a photo of my pet?
At this time, the tribute is expected to include pet names only.
How do I reserve a tribute?
To reserve a pet tribute, complete the project interest or donation form and provide the pet name exactly as you would like it to appear. Space will be limited and reservations will be confirmed once payment and inscription information are received.
Who can I contact with questions?
