A Project Built for Community Support

The Create Dunwoody Pet Tribute Project is a community-funded public art initiative that honors beloved pets through permanent sculptures featuring pet names from local families and supporters.

The sculpture celebrates the special bond between people and their pets while adding a meaningful and welcoming piece of public art to Dunwoody.
Community members will have the opportunity to make a tribute gift in honor or memory of a beloved pet, with their pet’s name included tag added to the sculpture.

How to pay tribute to your pet

Individual/Family $100/$125

Individuals and families may honor a beloved pet by having the pet’s name included on a “tag” placed on the sculpture.
Inscription of 2 lines at up to 14 characters per line. (Inscriptions may be reviewed for length, readability, and appropriateness.)

The Founder Pet Tribute Sponsor rate of $100 is available for the first 50 registrants. The rate will increase to $125 after the initial tags. This early commitment helps launch the project, secure the first sculpture, and demonstrate community support before fabrication begins. Of course, your additional donations are welcome as they support future art projects in Dunwoody.

Business Sponsorship Opportunities

Business Sponsor: $1,000

Supports the creation and installation of the sculpture and includes business recognition (name) near the sculpture.

Sculpture Sponsor: $2,500

Only two Sculpture Sponsorships available. Includes enhanced recognition (name and logo) as a lead supporter near the sculpture.

What is the Create Dunwoody Pet Tribute Project?
The Create Dunwoody Pet Tribute Project is a community public art initiative that honors beloved pets through permanent sculptures and tribute elements. Community members may make a donation to have a pet’s name included on a plaque, paw, or other artistic feature connected to the sculpture.

What information can be included on the tribute?
To keep the memorial tasteful and readable. 2 lines with 14 characters each. Create Dunwoody will review names for length, readability, and appropriateness.

Line 1: Pet Name - Maximum 14 characters, including spaces and punctuation.

Line 2: Optional Tribute Text - Maximum 14 characters, including spaces and punctuation. Examples: 2012–2025, Loved Always, Best Boy, or Forever Max.

Can I include more than one pet?
Multiple pet names can be inscribed as long as the characters fit within the 2 lines and 14 characters per line,

Can I honor a living pet, or does this have to be a memorial?
Both are welcome. This project is intended to honor pets who are currently part of your family as well as pets remembered with love.

What types of pets can be included?
All beloved pets are welcome. While the sculpture may feature a dog and cat design, the tribute names may honor any pet that has been meaningful to you or your family.

Will I get to choose the exact location of my pet’s name?
No. Specific placement cannot be guaranteed. Create Dunwoody will work with the artist, fabricator, and installer to arrange names in a way that is attractive, balanced, and readable.

Will there be a limit to the number of pet tags?
Yes. Space will be limited for each sculpture. Tags will generally be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the available tribute spaces are filled.

What happens if the project does not move forward?
If the project is unable to move forward, Create Dunwoody will contact donors regarding next steps. Depending on the timing and project expenses already incurred, options may include refunds, applying the gift to a future public art project, reserving a tribute for a future sculpture, or another appropriate resolution.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Create Dunwoody is a nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible as allowed by law. Donors should consult their tax advisor for guidance specific to their situation.

Can I purchase a tribute as a gift?
Yes. A pet tribute can be a thoughtful gift for a friend, family member, neighbor, or someone grieving the loss of a beloved pet.

Who is creating the sculpture?
Huelani Mei is the artist creating the sculpture. She has several sculptures in Dunwoody Parks and traveling exhibitions throughout the country.

How will the funds be used?
Funds will help cover project costs such as artist design, fabrication, materials, tribute tags and plaques, site preparation, installation, signage, landscaping, and maintenance.

Will there be an unveiling or dedication event?
Yes, Create Dunwoody hopes to host a dedication or unveiling event once the sculpture is installed. Donors, sponsors, community members, and pet lovers will be invited to celebrate the project.

How long will the tribute remain in place?
The goal is for the sculpture and tribute names to be a permanent or long-term public art feature. As with all outdoor public art, the final duration may depend on property agreements, maintenance needs, and site conditions.

Can I submit a photo of my pet?
Yes. After you complete payment, you’ll be directed to complete a form for tag customization. You’ll have an opportunity then to submit a photo. If you submit a photo, you are giving us permission to use the photo on our webpage and for marketing purposes.
